New Ultrasound Pics!!

Well, we got to see our sweet little baby yesterday and it was wonderful! It's hard to believe we won't see it again until May!! That's a long time to wait! We did find out the sex but I am not posting it on here until after next week. I am going home to see my family on Christmas Day and since I haven't been able to share anything regarding the baby with them in person, I really want to share this news when I get there.

The ultrasound went great though. The doctor spent a lot of time looking at the heart and the spine and the head and everything looked perfect! It's exactly where it should be as far as size goes and she said all of the organs and everything looked great. It was amazing to see the four chambers of the heart - ultrasounds really are a marvel. I couldn't believe she was able to look through my stomach to the baby and then through the baby to its heart and brain - modern science is truly wonderful. We are very very excited to be parents and can't wait until May!!

Here are some pictures from the ultrasound. The first one is of the arm and hand (we could see all five fingers by the way!) and the last three are profile shots. I'll be posting belly shots soon and I'll post the sex after next week. Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family - we miss you!!

Christmas is coming!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!! My mom came up on Wednesday afternoon and left on Sunday. We had a wonderful feast on Thanksgiving (courtesy of my dear hubby) and we are still working on the leftovers. My mom helped me put up our tree and all of our decorations so the apartment is looking pretty festive right now which I love. We went shopping all day on Friday and most of the day on Saturday and got some pretty good deals. I can't believe it is already December and that Christmas is almost here! It still hasn't snowed up here (I'm NOT complaining) but we've definitely had some cold days and I know that the snow will be here soon.

Two weeks from today (December 15th) Grant and I will find out what we're having!! We can't WAIT! We are dying to buy stuff and I can't wait to start planning a nursery. We went to Babies R Us last weekend and registered for a lot of basic baby stuff, but I'm dying to add some pink or blue items! I'm going to add a poll soon so people can vote (guess) on what we're having so be sure to check back for that by the end of the week. Much love to all!

Theresa & AC Visit Boston!

We had a very fun weekend this past weekend!  Theresa and Anna Catherine came to spend the weekend with us from Chattanooga.  Anna Catherine is 16 months old and, boy, is she fun!  I commend Theresa for getting her up here on Friday - it was no small feat I am sure.  I don't think AC liked being couped up in a small space for such a long period of time, but they made it!  They arrived Friday night just in time for dinner and then we all headed to bed shortly after.  Saturday was a very fun day - we took AC to the Boston Public Gardens (my FAVORITE part of Boston!!) and let her run around and play all day.  We also took her to the Children's Museum in Boston which was a lot of fun too.  I think she enjoyed the opportunity to run and play after being in airports and planes all day the day before.  Sunday, we went into the city and met my friend Sonia for brunch and then took AC to a playground and did our best to wear her out the rest of the day before she had to get on another plane.  She is soooo much fun and has so much energy.  It was so nice to spend the weekend with them both and I missed them the moment we said goodbye!  Theresa showed me how to get Skype on our computer so that now we can call them and actually see them at home through the web cam!  I am super excited about that.  Now, I can watch her girls grow and Theresa can watch my belly grow!  Here are some pictures from our wonderful weekend.

This was so cute - Anna Catherine loved having Grant read her books - he would let her pick which one she wanted and he would read - she likes flipping the pages a lot :)

This is part of the "Make Way for Ducklings" statue at the Public Gardens.  Kids LOVE these things and you have to wait in line to get to them.  AC loved sitting on each one and petting them.  It was so cute!

Ultrasound 2!!

I went yesterday for my second ultrasound and boy was this one better than the last one!  It was so exciting to see our little baby!  This time, you could actually tell that it WAS a baby which was so unbelievable.  It was moving around and flipping over - it was incredible!  I couldn't believe that I was actually seeing my little baby in there.  I could see both legs and both arms (sigh of relief) and all of the little ribs and spine.  I can't believe how much its grown in just four weeks!  The doctor said everything looks great and our little one is growing and looking perfect!  We are so excited.  In only six more weeks, we'll get to find out whether we're having a he or a she!  We can't wait!  Here are a couple of pics from the ultrasound.

This is a close-up of the head and profile.  You can see the brain!

This is the whole little baby!!  It's kind of turned upside down on its head, but you can see the spine and the legs and even the little nose!

Yesterday was a great day - very exciting.  We can't wait until May gets here!!

Fun with Friends and Babies

Grant and I went to Madison, GA this past weekend to surprise our very good friend Michael for his birthday.  It was such a great weekend and I was able to spend the whole time with my very best friends - Theresa & John, Michael & Saralyn, Kristen & Jason...and Theresa's gorgeous girls - Anna Catherine and Kaitlyn (sweetest girls ever) - it was the BEST weekend!  The only bad part was having to leave.  It's always hard to come back to Boston after being in the South, but it was especially hard this time after having such a great time with friends.  We made a vow to all get together regularly and I hope that it won't be much longer before our next visit!  Here are some pictures from our weekend.

The only people missing are Kristen and Jason - they had to get an early start out on Sunday morning.

Me practicing being a mommy with sweet baby Kaitlyn - she is the snuggliest thing ever.  I cuddled with her all weekend!

Gorgeous little Anna Catherine - she is the funniest child ever - she has a HUGE personality (she takes after her mama) and she is an absolute joy to be around.  I love these girls so much!

Feeling Pregnant

Okay - so remember when I said I'd probably be wishing for the days when I was feeling "symptomless"...well that time has come. About two weeks ago, the nausea started, and it's been pretty much a constant ever since. I definitely have better days than others, but by the end of the day, I'm usually feeling pretty lousy. I'm not throwing up, so that's a good thing, but I'm just kind of constantly nauseous. I'm not at all interested in food. I make myself eat and I feel better for like 5 minutes and then I immediately feel worse. Not fun :( But it's all okay because in the end, there will be a beautiful little baby and it will all be worth it! I can't believe I'm almost at the end of my first trimester! I hope the rest of the time flies by too!! Grant and I are gearing up to go visit friends this weekend in Georgia which I am super excited about so that will give me something to take my mind off of feeling crummy. Will write more soon!

First Ultrasound!!

Yay! We finally had our first ultrasound this morning!! Everything looks great! We could see the little heart just beating away - it was so surreal and I think Grant and I were both filled with awe and wonder. We've attached a photo which may not look like much but we are proud just the same! You can see the head on the right and the little body is the rest. Our doctor said the due date is May 15th which is pretty close to my calculation of the 12th. I had a ton of bloodwork a few weeks ago and it all came back great - all of the hormone levels and everything are right where they should be. I go back on October 31st for some more preliminary tests and then they will tell us the sex on December 15th - right before Christmas! It will be a tough wait because we are so excited to find out what our little baby is so we can stop referring to as "the baby." We feel very blessed right now that everything is going so smoothly. I've still been feeling great - I've had a little bit of nausea this week but nothing bad, and so far, that's the extent of my pregnancy symptoms. I know I am very lucky!! Hopefully, the good luck will continue!

Until next time,

Lacey & Grant

Friends Visit Boston

We had wonderful friends visit us this weekend in Boston. Mr. Knox and Mrs. Janelle are part of my extended family from Macon. They took care of me for nearly seven years while I was in college and law school. I went to church with them at Mabel White and they had me over for dinner and long talks all the time and basically treated me like part of their family. They are such dear friends and we had such a wonderful weekend with them. We took them on a tour of the city on Saturday and enjoyed a beautiful Sunday in Salem. On Monday, we went to the JFK Library and Museum and had a wonderful dinner in the North End. They left this morning and we miss them already! Thanks for a fabulous weekend!! We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Still hasn't hit us yet!

I thought this was cute - this is pretty much how I've been feeling lately. I'm thankful that I've been feeling great so far, but I can't help but wonder, am I really pregnant?!?! I'm sure that in the coming months, I'll be wishing I was still symptomless!

We Finally Created a Blog!

Hello All!
Well, we just received some very exciting news last week and decided to follow in the footsteps of our friends and create a blog to document this wonderful time in our lives.  We are expecting our first baby in May and we could not be any happier or more excited.  So far, I feel great and I'm hoping that will continue in the months to come.  We are looking forward to all of the changes that are about to occur and are praying for nothing more than a healthy baby! These pictures are from the night that we found out I was pregnant.  We went to one of my favorite restaurants (Carrabba's) to celebrate.  I will try my best to update this blog frequently because we are up here by ourselves and it will make us feel better knowing that our friends and family can share in this time with us.
Until next time,
Lacey & Grant
