Baby Showers!!

I had a wonderful weekend at home this past weekend. I flew home Friday night and had two showers on Saturday. The first one was at my church and the second one was at my aunt Karen's house. They were both so nice!! I got to see tons of friends and family and I got so many wonderful gifts for McClane! Several ladies gave us special handmade items - blankets and quilts - so nice and something we will treasure always! Everyone was so generous and we are very blessed! I think McClane will be one well-dressed baby - at least for the first 6 months! Grant gave me the biggest surprise ever last night when I got home - he had cleaned out McClane's room!! It may not sound like much, but it made my weekend to come home and see his room ready for new furniture!! He got rid of the bed that was in here and now I can envision how great it is going to look. The furniture should be here in a few more weeks!

Here are some pictures from my weekend. Thank you to all of my friends and family for making this such a special weekend for me! I can't wait until McClane gets here so he can meet all of the wonderful people in our lives!

This is at the shower at my church Saturday morning. My cousin Ashley came with two of her beautiful kids.

All of the ladies at the church shower.

My newlywed cousin Megan and me.

The beautiful and delicious cake that my friend Saralyn made for my second shower at my aunt's house. It was so special!! She used my nursery colors and themes for the inspiration! I didn't want to cut it or mess it up but I'm glad we did because it was fantastic!

Saralyn also made some yummy cookies for everyone to take home from the shower as favors. They were adorable and a huge hit! She is so talented - I can't wait until she opens up her bakery one day!

Three of my beautiful hostesses: Theresa, Saralyn and Kristen. It was so wonderful to see them.

This is a boat bookcase that we had a very talented man in Blakely make for McClane's room. I met with him over Christmas and showed him a picture of what I wanted and viola! he made it! We are beyond excited about it! It turned out so great! My mom is painting it navy to match the other furniture in his room. I can't wait!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We'll post more soon!

Paintings for McClane

These are the pictures that I painted for McClane's room.  I worked on them ALL weekend last weekend.  I really enjoyed doing it.  I found similar paintings online for $100 each and I decided I could do them on my own for much cheaper so here are the results!    The hardest part was getting the green right - I nearly threw them all away at one point because I couldn't make the green I was looking for.  I bet I mixed 20 different shades of green.  But I'm happy with the way they turned out.  I want to hang them over his bed.  His furniture will be navy and his bedding is navy and white with lime green trim/accents.  We are going with a nautical/sailing theme so I think these pictures will be a fun addition.  Now I need another project!  I can't wait until his furniture comes in so that we can get it all ready!!

Grant and I are still working on cleaning out what will be McClane's room.  It has been our guest room for the last two years and it also holds all of Grant's clothes.  We have a ways to go, but we'll get there.  We've been making numerous trips to the Salvation army to get rid of tons of clothes and things we don't need.  I'm looking at two huge trashbags right now ready to get shipped off tomorrow.  And we're throwing away a lot too which feels great.  I don't know how or why we accumulate so much stuff!  I'm getting all of my spring cleaning in early this year!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!  We'll post more soon!

New Bump Pic

This is my second baby bump pic - we took it last Tuesday when I turned 28 weeks. As you can see, McClane is GROWING!! I feel like it took a while for him to pop out and then he grew really fast and now I feel like he's slowing down again. I guess he hit a growth spurt!

I am going Friday for my gestational diabetes test so keep your fingers crossed on that one! As most of you know, sweets are my favorite food group, so I would hate to find out that my diet has to be changed :)

I also have two showers next weekend in Blakely that I will be flying down for so I'm super excited to be home for a couple of days and see friends and family. I can't WAIT! All in all, things are great - I'm feeling good and hoping for these next 11 weeks to fly by so we can meet McClane! We've ordered all of his furniture which will come in sometime in April and I've painted some pictures for his room which I will try to post pictures of soon. They turned out really cute. I can't wait to get his room ready!! I'm definitely in "nesting" mode - I want to clean out everything and throw away half of what we own. I think I'm driving Grant a little crazy asking him to get rid of some of his stuff. Hope everyone is having a good week! I'll be posting more soon!

First Baby Bump Pic!!

Well - here it is!! My first baby bump pic!  We just took it so it is completely up to date.  This is me nearly 25.5 weeks pregnant - almost 2/3 of the way there!  I will try to do these from now on twice a month so my growing little baby can be seen.  I'm still feeling great.  I went to the doctor this past Friday and everything is looking good.  When I go next month, I do the gestational diabetes test, so I'll keep everyone up to date on that too.

We can't wait to meet McClane in just 3.5 months!!

No Place Like Home

I've got quite a lot of catching up to do! Grant and I got back from being home to Georgia for nearly three weeks last week and it has taken us some time to get reacclimated to the Boston way of life. We had such a nice visit while we were down there. We didn't need our huge heavy coats, hats, and gloves while we were home. Most of the time, we were fine without even a light jacket. I was able to completely forget how miserable the weather is up here and that was a very nice change!! Here are some pics from our trip down South.

We had a late Christmas with my dad's side of the family once I got down there. My mom and aunt are up top, and my cousins Ashley and Megan are with me on the bottom row.

My mom and I went to Macon on New Year's Eve morning so that I could have a chance to spend a couple of hours with my friend Theresa and her sweet girls Anna Catherine and Kaitlyn.

New Year's Eve night, I was able to see one of my oldest and dearest friends April - she threw a surprise 50th birthday for her parents who thought they were attending a New Year's Eve bash - we celebrated both!

My cousin Megan got married and these are some pictures from her rehearsal dinner and wedding. She was a GORGEOUS bride - she married a wonderful guy Stephen and their wedding was beautiful. I can't believe she's married!!

We were also able to spend some time with our great friends Brooke and Adam and I FINALLY got to meet their adorable little boy Brody. Brody and McClane will be one year apart so it was really fun to imagine what little McClane will be like this time next year. He was soooo cute and his smile really melted my heart. We hope to spend a lot more time with them soon!

There really is no place like home - spending time with family and friends was great!!! We hope our visits become more frequent this year. Love you all!

William McClane Norman

Happy New Year Everyone! We can finally "officially" announce that we are having a little baby boy and we are naming him William McClane Norman. We will call him McClane. He is named after my brother, my Grandfather, and Grant's Grandfather - all named William. We are very excited and have had so much fun sharing the news with our family and friends. We had Christmas stockings monogrammed with his name and gave them to my parents and Grant's mom and that's how they found out what we were having. (That was Grant's great idea!) We could not be more excited and I have already been busy planning the nursery! I can't wait!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to an amazing 2009!!

New Ultrasound Pics!!

Well, we got to see our sweet little baby yesterday and it was wonderful! It's hard to believe we won't see it again until May!! That's a long time to wait! We did find out the sex but I am not posting it on here until after next week. I am going home to see my family on Christmas Day and since I haven't been able to share anything regarding the baby with them in person, I really want to share this news when I get there.

The ultrasound went great though. The doctor spent a lot of time looking at the heart and the spine and the head and everything looked perfect! It's exactly where it should be as far as size goes and she said all of the organs and everything looked great. It was amazing to see the four chambers of the heart - ultrasounds really are a marvel. I couldn't believe she was able to look through my stomach to the baby and then through the baby to its heart and brain - modern science is truly wonderful. We are very very excited to be parents and can't wait until May!!

Here are some pictures from the ultrasound. The first one is of the arm and hand (we could see all five fingers by the way!) and the last three are profile shots. I'll be posting belly shots soon and I'll post the sex after next week. Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family - we miss you!!
